Pastoral letter of the Bishops…sucks!

The Pastoral Letter of the CBCP rejecting the RH Bill states that the bill “does not protect the health of the sacred human life that is being formed or born.” It goes on to say that “these artificial means (contraceptives) are fatal to human life either preventing it from fruition or destroying it.”  It’s rather unfortunate that the letter seeks to confuse the reader by attributing the function of an abortion pill to that of a contraceptive and then following it up with “scientists have known for a long time that contraceptives may cause cancer.”

The first attempt at using “scare tactic” employs what is obviously “mental dishonesty” – deliberately confusing contraception with abortion. There is, obviously, malice in thier obfuscating the issue.  The subsequent attempt to frighten employs what can only be called pseudo-science, disregarding and degrading serious researches and well meaning efforts done all these past years to understand, discover the causes of cancer and hopefully, a cure. They show no sensitivity whatsoever towards cancer victims and their families who continue to wait for science to save their loved ones. “Scientists have known for a long time…” my ass!

It is hard to say whether this letter is more abominable than the acts committed by the numerous pedophiles among the catholic clergy all over the world, a fact now known to many. This letter, published in a full page of a daily, is worth less than the paper it is printed on. These bishops, I hope none of them pedophiles though I wouldn’t wager on it, have just shown their capacity for shamelessness.
